Helping the Hospital

If you would like to support your local hospital by donating some money, or your time, there are a number of ways in which you can help.

The Trust has two main charities, both of which exist with the help and support of the local community. Your contribution, large or small, is welcome.

The two charities are:

The Friends of University Hospital Lewisham
This was founded in 1958 and is a registered charity. It is run entirely by volunteers whose aim is to provide a range of comforts and amenities at the hospital which will make a difference to patients, visitors and staff.
Funds are used to provide equipment, furniture, furnishings and toiletries. If you want to find out more about how you can support the Friends, please contact Ken Hart or Betty Hart or any of the volunteers in the Charity Shop at the hospital on 020 8333 3000, Ext.6093.
The Lewisham Hospital Charitable Funds
There are around 100 individual trust funds which have been arranged into several separate charities. These allow you to donate money directly to a ward, clinic or department, or to a specific cause.
Some of the funds include: Ward funds, Children's Services, Women's Services, Research and a Staff Amenity Fund. A full list is available by contacting the Financial Services Department at the hospital on: 020 8333 3000, Ext.3008 or Ext.6296.

In addition to the above charities, University Hospital Lewisham also has a number of Voluntary Helpers at the hospital. If you can spare a few hours a week to help the patients and staff on the wards or in the departments, please see our page on voluntary work.
